MKO is an Australian fashion Label founded by Nigerian born designer Mallory Maduka-ike.
Mallory Maduka-ike has always had an interest in fashion from a young age. For her creating art was a way to connect to her heritage, her community and her family. Mallory studied Fashion in Curtin University, Perth Western Australia, where she won an award of Innovation for her use of rope in her graduation collection. She has been involved in a number of fashion events such as Telstra Perth Fashion Festival Future Runway, Fashion[ing] Wool at Enex100 and Curtin University’s Fashion Tank with Jimmy Choo, where she won a yearlong mentorship with Professor Jimmy Choo. As a designer she finds the idea of women empowerment important, especially in todays society and culture. Her design aesthetic focuses on the feeling of strength and individuality through textile manipulation and strong materials.
